International and Professional Opportunities

International Opportunities

While most colleges in America offer some type of international study program, the Tisch School of the Arts has a distinctive approach.  Countries have been selected for their historical richness and expertise in a particular art form.  For example, our students can study television production at the BBC in London; cinematography at FAMU in Prague, one of Europe’s premier film schools; acting or directing at the Abbey Theater in Dublin; or theatre-making at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.  We have working relationships with over sixteen countries and every option – whether a ten-day field trip, a summer program, or a full semester abroad – is designed as advanced study.  Tisch students who take advantage of these opportunities enter their professions with a uniquely global perspective on their art form.

Professional Opportunities

Taking advantage of its location in an arts and entertainment center, the Tisch School Of The Arts has developed fascinating internship opportunities in virtually every discipline represented at the School.  Often these internships lead our students to their first job in their respective industries.  Fully aware that the arts is one of the most challenging of career choices, the Tisch School Of The Arts’ Office of Career Development (LINK) provides job listings, placement assistance, and overall career counseling for all Tisch students.  The School provides practical means to give students an “edge” in the professional world, whenever and wherever it can.  Successful job fairs have been held in both New York and Los Angeles and, for student screenwriters and actors, the School organizes a screenplay “bank” and a headshot book.
