The Tisch School of the Arts is truly a pioneer in the arts, with many "firsts" to its credit, among them the Department of Cinema Studies, the Department of Performance Studies, the Graduate Program in Musical Theatre Writing (still the only department of its kind in the country), and the Interactive Telecommunications Program, which was the first program of its kind at a school of the arts rather than a school of science or technology.
We seek $17.5 million to support cutting-edge initiatives, including a new master's degree program in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation; the Department of Art and Public Policy, which explores the bond between the arts and social, ethical, and political issues; and the new Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music, which will educate future leaders of the music industry with an approach that considers the music producer as a creative force.
