The Dean's Fund for Special Projects

Richard Vague, Dean's Council member, established two of the most important funds at the school, The Richard Vague Student Production Award and the Richard Vague Production Fund Award.

Among the things that set Tisch apart from other schools of the arts are its special programs.  These initiatives serve many purposes.  They reach out to underrepresented communities to recruit young people who might not otherwise choose a career in the arts, like the Future Filmmakers program.  They support graduates of the School as they attempt to clear the first hurdles of a professional career, such as the Richard Vague Awards which help recent alumni complete their first professional films.  They take students out of the classroom and into the community through programs such as the Urban Arts Ensemble, which makes it possible for students to practice and teach their art form in senior centers, high schools, hospitals, and other venues.  They expose students to alternate approaches to the arts around the world, such as the International Student Film Festival, study abroad programs, and topics courses that allow young people to immerse themselves in the artistic legacy of a specific region.

We seek to raise $5 million to support special projects.  Special projects are, to a great extent, what makes Tisch not just a place where young people spend a certain number of years in pursuit of a degree, but rather a community that for many begins before their freshman year, and lasts throughout their entire lives.
