Tisch Alumni Annual Fund

Ang Lee, MFA '84, Doctor of Fine Arts '01 and Dean's Council member, made a leadership gift to the campaign by establishing the Ang Lee Graduate Film Scholarship.

Gifts to the Tisch Alumni Annual Fund are used for the most pressing needs of the school, primarily scholarships for students, but can also be restricted to special projects such as film production funds, purchase of equipment for departments, and other needs. Recognition for alumni donors includes listing in the Annual Report to Donors, membership in the NYU Alumni Cinema Club, and, for donors at $1000 and up, invitations to evenings with illustrious alumni hosted by Dean Mary Schmidt Campbell.

Featured Alumni Gift:

Esteemed director, producer, and screenwriter, Ang Lee, has provided a generous gift for scholarships at the Tisch School of the Arts. He received an M.F.A. from Tisch in 1984 and went on to direct many critically acclaimed feature films, including Eat Drink Man Woman, Sense and Sensibility, The Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and The Hulk. Born in Taiwan, Mr. Lee has been successful at bringing his highly original artistic vision to the screen in two different languages – Chinese and English. He is one of Tisch School of the Arts' most illustrious graduates.

"I can still taste the honor of receiving a scholarship for my student film from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, when I was studying filmmaking there. The scholarship helped me tremendously to become who I am today. Now I would like to share this encouragement with young filmmakers at Tisch, to give them a taste of their own futures."
